The Acting Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Nkansah has emphasised the commitment of GES to amplify efforts to increase the Senior High School to Tertiary transition rates.
He noted that education and training is an enabler and empowers citizens with critical skills and job skills hence GES will continue to work to ensure that many more Senior High School graduates are given the opportunity to transition into the various tertiary institutions to pursue higher education.
Dr. Nkansah said this when he joined the sixtieth (60th) anniversary celebration of Mpraeso Senior High School located in the Kwahu South district of the Eastern region. The festival which was under the theme, “Promoting Inclusive Education in the COVID-19 Pandemic Era: The Role of Science, Technology and Innovation” was attended by the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong; Hon. Julius Debrah; Mpraeso Krontihene, Nana Abrah Appiah; Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Adai of Breast Care International; Professor Omane-Antwi and several MPASS Past students.

The Eastern Regional Minister who gave an address on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said the government is investing in school infrastructure in an effort to improve education standards and equip learners with the requisite skills, saying in addition to constructing ten (10) STEM Senior High Schools, the government is constructing twenty (20) STEAM Centres, with the first already commissioned.
In his remarks, the Guest Speaker Prof. Omane-Antwi commended the government for changing the face of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in the country and urged all citizens to uphold the virtues of honesty and integrity in a collective effort to contribute to the growth of the nation.
Krontihene of Mpraeso, Nana Abrah Appiah commended the management and leadership of the school and encouraged the students to be proud of their school since it is one of the best in the region. He donated dome devices to the Science Unit of the school. He assured teachers and students of the readiness of the Mpraeso traditional leadership to offer continuous support to Mpraeso SHS.
Outstanding students were given awards for excelling in various subjects.
